Activity related to the proposed action: University of Beira Interior contributions are in the following areas: __ Classification and characterisation of Enhanced UMTS and Mobile Broadband Systems (MBS) services and applications; __ Deployment scenarios for Enhanced UMTS and MBS; __ Multi-service traffic and characterisation of the traffic sources and service components(including traffic from mobility); __ Optimisation bases in cost/revenues aspects. The aspects covering cellular planning tools should also be included into the project because they will allow to join together, contributions from coverage, interference, urban geometry and tele-traffic performance aspects, among others. University of Beira Interior is currently participating in the IST-SEACORN (Simulation of Enhanced UMTS Access and Core Networks) with research covering some topics in these areas.
