Our research for single-user schemes tackled the study of feasible full discrete schemes with conditions that can be applied for distinct services (average or instantaneous target BER, minimum transmission delay). Works over both flat and frequency selective fading channels have been carried out, employing Adaptive OFDM when suitable. For three and half years (January 2002-June 2003) our group collaborated with NOKIA SPAIN S.A. in the "Engineering Center for Mobile Communications" in Malaga. Research about link adaptation, radio resource management, end-to-end QoS, and transmission of multimedia services in 2.5G and 3G mobile networks was carried out in that time. Currently our research focuses on multi-user schemes. Specifically, the Spanish MCYT supports a project entitled "Adaptive Multicarrier Transmission and Multiple Access Techniques over Shared Variant Environments with QoS objectives". Several doctors and students work in the study of cross-layer mechanisms for QoS provision, simultaneously adapting to the variant service conditions and channel quality.
