Expertise: Development and simulation of multiple access protocols for wireless broadband networks operating at millimeter wave frequencies. The focus is put on optimising throughput and access times for Internet applications and current / future Internet traffic characteristics. Thereby, QoS for IP is investigated, e.g. by prioritising and hierarchical link sharing for a defined set of service classes . Running project: NetMSI-phase-2 investigates possibilites for cost reduction of DVB-RCS user terminals and the more efficient transport of IP-protocol packets. Thereby, emphasis  is put on QoS support for satellite based networks using TCP/IP protocols and improved encapsulation methods for transporting IP packets over DVB transport streams.
